5 Ways to Stay Productive While Social Distancing

Well, what an interesting few weeks it has been! I hope everyone reading this is staying safe and healthy!

Like most creatives out there, I am experiencing an unexpected season of downtime. Just a few weeks ago, my spring calendar was full of weddings, portrait sessions, speaking engagements, and so much more.  Instead, nearly all sessions, meetings and events have been canceled and I’m home indefinitely with my husband and a 10 month old! While I don’t mind wearing sweatpants every day, staying productive and taking advantage of this time is a huge priority for me! (Any other enneagram 3’s out there?!)

So, let me ask you this – What are all of those things that you’ve wanted to do, but never had the time for? NOW is the time to dive into all of those “someday” tasks. Not sure where to start? Here are 5 ways to stay productive while social distancing.

Book a Coaching Call with Someone You Admire

If there’s something you’ve always wanted to learn, now is the time! This can be via online workshop, a course or even a one on one coaching session. Coaching sessions are my favorite, because it gives you the opportunity to connect with someone you admire while getting personalized advice. So email that creative that you’d love to learn from and see if they offer coaching sessions. Not only would you be supporting another small business owner, but you’ll be improving your own business too!

If you’re wanting to dive into the tech in your business, I offer multiple coaching packages! You can find more info on those here!

Clean Up, Update and Purge Your Devices

Speaking of things that are on your “eventually” list, now is the PERFECT time to clean up your tech! Spend a day organizing your files, completing those software updates, and getting rid of apps that you don’t need. You and your computer will thank me!

Add Some Automations To Your Workflow

Little automations can make a world of difference! Think about the tasks that you do over and over again. Are those things that can be automated? Take advantage of your free time and implement an automation to save you time in your business. This doesn’t have to be anything fancy. A simple email can make a world of difference! Implement or Refine Your Client Management System

For me, this is one of those things that always gets put on the back burner. Set aside a few hours to walk through your entire workflow from start to finish as your client. Fill out your contact form, schedule a meeting, send those emails, invoices and contracts. Go through the entire process through the eyes of your clients, and take notes along the way. This is my favorite way to find little mistakes, or areas that can be improved or simplified. You can even take it a step further by doing this with fellow creative! Act as the client through their system, and they can do the same for you! Sometimes having an outside perspective can be very eye opening!

Update Your Website & Add Helpful Links

This is a big item on my todo list during my own social distancing! Spend some time updating your website and creating helpful links! Creating helpful links will save you so much time moving forward. This can be anything from your favorite locations to photograph your clients in, to timeline tips, or even a page that your clients can use to schedule meetings with you!
